Description
The GIS-Beijing dataset consists of 6 databases of archival data documenting Beijing Urban Culture in the period 1912-1937 for the 6 following areas: urban morphology; law; medicine; markets; religion; education. This dataset is a database outcome of the Research Project entitled “Beijing in Transition: A Historical GIS Study of Urban Cultures, 1912-1937”, supported by the Research Grant Council of the Hong Kong SAR Government with the project code number #450407. Project Principal Investigator: Billy K. L. So (Department of History, CUHK; Division of Humanities, HKUST from February 1, 2011). Project Co-investigator: Lin Hui (Institute of Space and Earth Information Science, CUHK). The data are linked to three maps of Beijing for the years 1913, 1916 and 1937 and presented in a series of power point and pdf files, also included.
